More shade and greenery along the lakeshore

Lake Biel and its lakeside promenade are a popular spot for relaxation and leisure, yet on hot summer days long stretches lack shade-giving trees. With heatwaves becoming more frequent due to climate change, this is an increasing problem for older people, families with young children and everyone seeking recreation.

We call on the City of Biel to plant additional, hardy trees along the promenade in order to preserve the quality of the lakeside experience even during periods of extreme heat.
